Who Should Enroll for the Registered Valuer – Securities or Financial Assets (SFA) Examination?

The Registered Valuer – SFA Examination is designed for professionals, postgraduates, and graduates who want to build a career in valuation of securities and financial assets and get registered as a Registered Valuer under the Companies (Registered Valuers and Valuation) Rules, 2017.

This exam is conducted by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) and is mandatory for individuals who wish to practice as Registered Valuers in the SFA asset class.

Who Should Enroll?

1. Professionals (CA, CMA, CS)

This category includes individuals who are member of a professional institute established by an Act of Parliament enacted for the purpose of regulation of a profession, with at least three years’ experience after such membership.

2. Postgraduate Degree Holders (Finance / Commerce / Economics)

Individuals who have obtained a post-graduate degree or post-graduate diploma, in the specified discipline, from a University or Institute established, recognized or incorporated by law in India and at least three years of experience in the specified discipline.

3. Graduates (Finance / Commerce / Economics / Business Administration)

This includes candidates holding a bachelor’s degree  or equivalent, in the specified discipline, from a University or Institute established, recognized or incorporated by law in India and at least five years of experience in the specified discipline.

Who Should Enroll for the Insolvency Professional Examination?

The Insolvency Professional Examination is intended for individuals aspiring to build a career as Insolvency Professionals (IPs) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (IBC). This examination is conducted by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) and is mandatory for those seeking registration with the IBBI as an Insolvency Professional.

Upon passing the examination, candidates must enroll with an Insolvency Professional Agency (IPA) and complete the Pre-Registration Educational Course (PDEC) to be eligible for registration as an IP.

Who Should Enroll?

1. Professionals (CA, CMA, CS, Advocates)

This category includes individuals who are:

Experience Requirement:
Must have at least 10 years of post-membership experience (for CA, CMA, CS) or 10 years of practice as an Advocate.

2. Postgraduate Degree Holders in Management or Law

Candidates holding a master’s degree in Management or Law from a University or Institute established, recognized, or incorporated by law in India.

Experience Requirement:
Must have 10 years of experience in the relevant field (management, finance, legal, or insolvency).

3. Graduates (in Any Discipline)

Graduates in any stream are also eligible to appear for the exam.

Experience Requirement:
Graduates must have 15 years of managerial experience in the field of commerce, law, management, or insolvency to be eligible.

Other Requirements:

Clear the Limited Insolvency Examination (LIE) conducted by IBBI.

Enroll with an Insolvency Professional Agency (IPA) after clearing the examination.

Complete the mandatory Pre-Registration Educational Course (PDEC) conducted by the IPA.

Apply for registration as an Insolvency Professional with IBBI after completing all above requirements.
